Chicago – Attorney General Kwame Raoul announced that a Matteson, Illinois man was sentenced to four years in prison for identity theft.

James Bryan Taylor, Jr., 45, was sentenced today by Cook County Circuit Court Judge Timothy Joyce after previously pleading guilty to Aggravated Identity Theft, a Class 1 felony. Taylor was also ordered to pay $110,850 in restitution.

“This sentence is the result of collaboration between my office and several law enforcement agencies, and it sends the message that identity thieves will be held accountable,” Raoul said.

Raoul alleges that in April 2018, Taylor obtained or possessed the personal information and documents, including driver’s licenses, credit cards and bank account numbers, of three or more individuals over the age of 60 with the intent to use the information to commit a felony.

Assistant Attorney General Samantha Cain prosecuted the case for Raoul’s Special Prosecutions Bureau.
