SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of the Chief of Investigations, duties include but are not limited to facility security, staffing a magnetometer, screening, and directing visitors, logging evidence and writing reports when required. A Security Officer is responsible for assisting Investigators in collecting and analyzing information from a variety of sources. They are required to run criminal histories providing the information to and assisting Investigators in achieving case objectives.
Security Officers are required to respond anywhere in the Attorney General's Office in the event of emergencies and to assist employees of the Attorney General's Office in the event of unruly or distraught clients or visitors.
This position requires a bachelorís degree in criminal justice or a related field or a minimum of five (5) years of law enforcement experience as a sworn officer and certification of an agency approved training program from the Illinois Law Enforcement Training & Standards Board. This position requires a working knowledge of law enforcement procedures, state, federal and local laws and regulations, a valid Illinois driverís license and a responsible driving record. The ability to conduct research using law enforcement databases and open-source search tools is required. Applicants must be LEADS certified or be eligible for LEADS certification. Attendance and the ability to maintain satisfactory working relationships with other agency law enforcement personnel, OAG employees and the general public are required.
HOURS OF WORK: 8:45 a.m. - 4:45 p.m. (Monday - Friday)
