POSITION BUREAU SERVED: Press Office LOCATION: Springfield or Chicago SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Press Assistant shall report directly to the Senior Press Secretary for the Attorney General and is responsible for administrative duties for Press Office. The Press Assistant will have frequent contact with reporters and a variety of media outlets and is responsible for screening and directing calls to the Senior Press Secretary and Deputy Press Secretary. The Press Assistant will be required to write and proof press releases and related press materials; will be responsible for issuing press releases and media advisories at the Press Secretaries’ discretion; provide administrative and staffing support for the Attorney General’s media events when needed; compile and distribute daily news clips summary; and assist Press Secretaries with media monitoring. Assist Press Secretaries with other duties as needed. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in English, Communications or a related field. Candidates must be proficient in using Microsoft Office and be comfortable using social media.
