POSITION CLASSIFICATION: Data Analyst/Statistician

PERMANENT ASSIGNMENT: Deputy Chief of Staff, Administration

LOCATION: Chicago

SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with experience

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Data Analyst/Statistician will perform quantitative, statistical, and economic analysis to support investigations and litigation enforcing civil rights, workplace rights, and antitrust laws. The Data Analyst/Statistician will use statistical modeling, regression analysis, and econometric modeling to identify trends, inferences, and potential evidence in large data sets. The Data Analyst/Statistician will work directly with attorneys seeking to make factual determinations about questions like: whether a particular policy or practice has a disparate impact based on race, gender, or other legally protected characteristic; how much workers are owed in unpaid wages, interest, and penalties in wage-and-hour litigation; and whether a company has a monopoly in a particular market.

Responsibilities will include using applied statistics to analyze large data sets and draw statistical inferences; preparing damages and other financial calculations; economic analysis, including statistical modeling; assisting with investigative interviews; evaluating economic theories, models, arguments, and evidence to aid in litigation and other investigations; collecting and analyzing data from government and other sources; reviewing documents; and drafting memoranda and other documents.

The Data Analyst/Statistician will also be responsible for assisting in depositions or other investigative hearings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

This position requires a Bachelorís degree in statistics, economics, or a similar quantitative field, an advanced degree is strongly preferred, and two years of professional experience researching, analyzing, interpreting, or presenting statistical information. Applicants must have knowledge of econometric methods, including logistic regressions, and experience with statistical analysis software (e.g., Python, R) and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau). Applicants must also have strong organizational and analytical skills, experience working with and analyzing large datasets in Excel or other programs, proficiency with Microsoft Office software, good interpersonal skills, and strong written and oral communication skills. Attendance, flexibility, and the ability to build and maintain satisfactory working relationships with other agencies and OAG employees is required.

Hours of Work: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Monday - Friday)
