More than one million lights were lit along North Michigan Avenue during the parade and culminated in a fireworks show over the Chicago River. |

Attorney General Lisa Madigan speaks at a town hall meeting about next year’s conversion to digital television (DTV) at Copernicus Northwest Senior Center in Chicago. Joining Madigan was Deborah Tate, left, FCC Commissioner, and other city officials, in order to raise awareness and inform consumers of the switch to DTV and how it will impact their viewing needs. Later, Madigan and Commissioner Tate visited Kennedy-King College in Chicago.

Attorney General Lisa Madigan looks on as Chicago resident Carol McClelland relates her story of being a victim of a so-called mortgage rescue company during a news conference in Chicago. Madigan announced the filing of seven new lawsuits against mortgage “rescue” companies and warned consumers about an alarming rise in these scams that prey on vulnerable homeowners on the verge of foreclosure.

The event was sponsored by the school’s Public Interest Law Group and the Student Funded Public Interest Fellowship Program and is designed to expose the students to individuals who are involved in public interest activities. |

Dr. Bibbie received the fifth annual “Al Ward Spirit of Giving Award” during the meeting of the organization, whose goal is to help schools coordinate services that meet the social, emotional and health needs of their students. Later, Madigan joins, from left, Kevin Evanich, Chairman of the CISC Board of Directors, Jane Mentzinger, CISC Executive Director, and Lynn Cutler, member of the CISC Board of Directors.

Jesse Jackson, Sr.; Betsy Berry, widow of Bill Berry, longtime Executive Secretary of the Chicago Urban League; Cheryle Jackson, President and CEO of the Urban League; and her husband Charles Jackson during the Urban League’s 47th Annual Golden Fellowship Dinner in Chicago. The dinner program was entitled, “Lights. Camera. nextTV,” and featured the launch of nextTV, a business and lifestyle television program to air in February 2009. |
