7/25/08 "Not Me" Campaign Against Teen Violence, Youth Drug, Alcohol and Tobacco Use |

Attorney General Lisa Madigan greets incoming freshmen at Douglass Academy High School in Chicago before launching the "Not Me" program, an initiative to curb teen violence and prevent youth drug, alcohol and tobacco use. Later, Madigan was joined by, from left, State Rep. Deborah Graham (D-78th), Principal Dr. Debra Crump, and State Sen. Don Harmon (D-39th), and several incoming freshmen who completed the Chicago Public School's Freshman Connection program and joined the new "Not Me" campaign.

Attorney General Lisa Madigan joins Jessica Arong O'Brien, left, Special Assistant Attorney General for the Illinois Department of Revenue, and Chicago attorney Aurora Abella-Austriaco during the Asian American Bar Association of Greater Chicago Area's (AABA) 21st annual installation of its 2008-2009 officers. Arong O'Brien was installed as president of the organization, which was established in 1987 and is an affiliate of an umbrella organization, the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA).

Attorney General Lisa Madigan joins Jorge Perez, President of the Chicago Area Public Affairs Group (CAPAG), during the group’s monthly membership luncheon in Chicago. Madigan was the featured speaker during the program and spoke about her office’s recent efforts to assist homeowners affected by the sub-prime lending crisis and answered questions from the members.

Attorney General Lisa Madigan delivers opening remarks during a hearing hosted by the National Commission on Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity in Chicago. Madigan spoke about her office’s recent action against Countrywide Home Loans, Inc., during the hearing, whose theme is, “Still Separate and Unequal: The State of Fair Housing in America.” The Commission will later host three other hearings in Boston, Los Angeles and Atlanta to gather testimony, research, data and information on fair housing enforcement. Commission members included, from left, I. King Jordan, President Emeritus of Gallaudet University; and Pat Combs, Immediate Past President of the National Association of Realtors.

Using a sign language interpreter for those who are hearing impaired, Attorney General Lisa Madigan talks to the lunchtime crowd during the Illinois Department of Human Services’ (IDHS) 18th Anniversary Celebration of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in Chicago. This year’s theme was, “ADA: Live the Dream,” and Madigan spoke about her office’s recent accomplishments in enforcing the state’s civil rights laws.

7/2/08 Operation FALCON 2008: Federal and Local Cops Organized Nationally |

Attorney General Lisa Madigan joins local, county, state and federal law enforcement in announcing the results of Operation FALCON (Federal and Local Cops Organized Nationally) during a news conference in Chicago. Madigan was joined by, from left, Ed O’Donnell, Commander Chicago Police Department, Geoff Shank, Deputy Inspector for the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force, Roger Walker, Jr., Director of the Illinois Department of Corrections, Tom Dart, Sheriff of Cook County, and Kim Widup, U.S. Marshal for the Northern District of Illinois. Led by the U.S. Marshals, in four days Operation FALCON netted 319 physical arrests while closing an additional 59 warrants in the Chicagoland area.

This year’s conference theme was “A More Perfect Union—From Freedom to Equality: Equanomics.”
Later, Attorney General Madigan delivers opening remarks during a panel discussion titled, “State of Home Foreclosures” which featured elected officials and representatives from the real estate and banking industries to talk about ways to remedy the current mortgage lending crisis.
