Later in the evening Madigan stands with eight other Mikva Challenge students. The program, started by former Congressman and White House Counsel Abner Mikva and his wife Zoe, engages high school students throughout Chicago to be active participants in the political process through election and issue campaigns and work to develop the next generation of civic leaders, activists and policymakers.

Attorney General Lisa Madigan stands with Laurence Msall, left, president of the Civic Federation, and Barbara Stewart, chairman of the Federation's board of directors, at their 2007 awards luncheon in Chicago. Madigan delivered the salutation after which the federation recognized outstanding civic contributions of individual citizens and Chicago-area institutions. The Civic Federation is a non-partisan government research organization working to maximize the quality and cost-effectiveness of government services in the Chicago region. Membership includes business and professional leaders from a wide range of Chicago-area companies and institutions.

Attorney General Lisa Madigan testifies in Chicago before a Congressional Field Hearing on the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and the dangers of magnetic toys. The hearing was chaired by U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) and U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush (D-IL). Madigan urged lawmakers to strengthen CPSC’s ability to protect children from dangerous products.

Attorney General Lisa Madigan joins members of law enforcement in welcoming athletes as they enter Hancock Stadium in the "Parade of Athletes" during the opening ceremonies of Special Olympics Illinois' State Summer Games 2007 in Normal. Later, participants in the Law Enforcement Torch Run enter the stadium with the "Flame of Hope." Madigan hands the flame to Special Olympics athlete and East Moline resident Becky Pisman to officially start the State Summer Games. In October, eleven state athletes will go on to compete in the 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games in China.

Attorney General Lisa Madigan addresses delegates to the AMVETS Department of Illinois' three-day convention in Springfield. Madigan was a guest speaker and talked about services available through her Veterans Rights Bureau to assist Illinois veterans. AMVETS Department of Illinois was recognized as an official State Department of AMVETS in 1945, and currently has 12,000 members. www.ilamvets.org

La procuradora general Lisa Madigan con Karen McNulty Enright durante la cena anual 93ª de la Asociación de Barra de Mujeres de Illinois (WBAI) en Chicago.  McNulty Enright fue jurada como la presidenta 2007 – 2008 de la asociación.  La WBAI fue establecida en 1914 por nueve abogadas en el área metropolitana de Chicago.  Fue fundada para promover el interés y el bienestar de abogadas y también para ayudar en la creación de legislación para el bienestar de todos y en la administración de justicia.

Thompson en Chicago.  El taller de verano que dura una semana es patrocinado por el Instituto de Gobierno y Asuntos Públicos (IGPA) de la Universidad de Illinois y la Conferencia de Mujeres Legisladoras (COWL) y es parte de una red nacional diseñada a promover las careras de mujeres en servicio publico..

The luncheon was part of the Coalition’s six-day Citizenship Education Fund Annual Conference 2007. This year’s conference theme is, “A More Perfect Union: Green Lining Redlined America,”  and the theme of the Women’s Luncheon is, “Women: Standards of Dignity, Decency & Equality.”

Attorney General Lisa Madigan stands with Wendy Abrams, left, chairwoman and founder of "Cool Globes Hot Ideas for a Cooler Planet” during the opening of the CoolGlobes exhibit in Chicago. Also joining them were Eric Nonacs of the Clinton Foundation and Diane Cardwell of The New York Times. From June through September, the City of Chicago is hosting the exhibit "CoolGlobes: Hot Ideas for a Cooler Planet," an innovative project that uses the medium of public art to inspire individuals and organizations to take action against global warming. The exhibit will be on display along Chicago’s lakefront near the Museum Campus.
