The Attorney Generalís Health Care Bureau was created to assist consumers with difficulties they encounter in obtaining health care services and insurance benefits through mediation, investigation and enforcement actions. The bureau also advocates for laws and policies that enhance the health care rights of consumers and educates consumers about those rights.

The Health Care Bureauís toll-free hotline, 1-877-305-5145 (TTY 1-800-964-3013), operates to assist consumers with problems related to health care. Health Care Bureau mediators deal directly with the consumer to collect information regarding the complaint. The mediators then contact the health care provider or insurance company in an attempt to settle the dispute, in consultation with attorneys and a physician in the bureau.
