The Child Support Enforcement Division of the Attorney Generalís office works closely with the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services (IDHFS) and other agencies and advocacy organizations to ensure that families throughout the state receive the support they need to raise their children. The Division provides legal representation to the IDHFS and the Illinois Department of Human Services. The Divisionís primary responsibility is to represent the State in child support litigation in 91 counties throughout Illinois. The Division also handles probate, administrative review, bankruptcy, welfare assistance recovery, and miscellaneous cases involving the administration of the child support and assistance programs in addition to handling subpoenas or other official requests for information.

The Northern District Supervising Attorney is responsible for supervising attorneys and support staff located in the Joliet, Rockford, and Rock Island offices. The Supervising Attorney consults regularly with the other district supervisors, and the Division Chief. The Supervising Attorney also handles complex litigation when necessary.

Candidates must be licensed in Illinois at the time of application. Candidates must have demonstrated knowledge of family law and child support issues, and extensive litigation experience (at least 5 years is preferred). Excellent communication and writing skills are essential for this position.

Salary: Commensurate with experience.
