Title: Assistant Attorney General

Division: Child Support Enforcement

Location: Chicago Office

The Child Support Enforcement Division represents the Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) on an as-needed basis in child support matters in Cook, DuPage, Kane, and Lake Counties, including administrative review actions. Additionally, the Division represents the Department of Human Services (DHS) in administrative review actions concerning public assistance eligibility and excess assistance recoveries; personal injury lien recoveries; decedent and incompetent estate liens and claims; foreclosure actions; and miscellaneous matters.

The Child Support Enforcement Division seeks an Assistant Attorney General who can work independently to prepare and try cases in state and federal court; prepare pleadings and submit them for e-filing; conduct research and prepare briefs in administrative review matters; attend court hearings, often on short notice; meet deadlines for filing post-judgment motions; and be familiar with the administrative processes of both HFS and DHS. Knowledge of the principles of civil and criminal law and of the methods and practices of pleading and discovery are necessary. This position will require travel to counties other than Cook.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience, starting salary is $65,000. Candidates must be licensed at the time of application. Experienced candidates are preferred.
