POSITION CLASSIFICATION: PC Technician
PERMANENT ASSIGNMENT: Deputy Chief of Staff, Administration

SALARY: $36,708 - $54,072 annually
SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Configuration, installation and maintenance of PC’s, Laptops and all Peripheral hardware, software, user documents, and troubleshooting user needs; software re-installation and upgrading; operating system re-installation and upgrading; perform network client software installation and upgrades; maintain PC, Peripheral, and software inventory; PC and peripheral hardware and software network troubleshooting; diagnose software, hardware and operator problems and recommend or perform minor remedial actions to correct problems or coordinate repairs with external contractual hardware maintenance company; perform part replacement and upgrades, perform peripheral replacement, swapping, moving and upgrading; order supplies as required for new PC and Peripheral installations, troubleshoot line problems and keep records of line locations; help desk and telephone support to end users. Knowledge of creating and maintaining accounts using Active Directory and the Microsoft Exchange product is preferred. Provide support to regional locations as required. Other tasks reasonably related to the feature of this class.
1. Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of an Associate’s degree in computer science or related field and one (1) year of experience in technical field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must be able to provide customer support for hardware and software problems; document customer requests and activities; guide users concerning various proficiency difficulties that they might face in completing their tasks; and have the ability to lift 50 pounds or more. Must possess strong knowledge of PC’s, Laptops and Peripherals in general, strong knowledge of Windows, WordPerfect, and MS Office set up and configuration; knowledge of Microsoft Windows client protocols; printer configuration and troubleshooting, modem troubleshooting, and knowledge of current software and hardware product developments.
HOURS OF WORK: 8:45 a.m. - 4:45 p.m. (Monday - Friday)
